My 4 grandchildren have been enrolled in Catholic school for the last eight years. Next year, their parents have decided to home school, due primarily to the reasons you cite. While most of the teachers are dedicated , they aren't Catholic and, if Catholic, subscribe to the CINO philosophy. They'll do better at home.

As a religious Sister teaching in a Catholic elementary school, I wholeheartedly agree with you. Unfortunately, sadly, the faith isn't always alive in the places we expect it should be. I can assure you that the teacher who teaches the full truth better be ready for the cross which some parents and administrators may hand the teacher.

Please pray for a genuine renewal of Catholic education in this country. Thank you.

Harsh? True? Yes! Without great detail, I teach 10th grade CCD. I told one of my students she "couldn't be a Catholic if she doesn't confess to a priest at least once a year as prescribed by the Church". I was told I couldn't tell her that. Why not? It's a requirement and we've been through enough poor catechisis for much too long. What has produced the total lack of comprehension by the present generation? Poor catechesis. We didn't want to be "too" hard on the people, we didn't want to present "too" many rules and regs, as it may have offended some.
