Knights take on pornography

Fathers for Good, a website for men operated by the Knights of Columbus, is offering a host of resources to address the growing availability of and addiction to pornography. Click HERE to listen to a podcast of Deacon Ralph Poyo talk about his former addiction to pornography and how other men can avoid falling into the same trap. Click HERE for an article by Gerald Korson on computer porn and the ways it can destroy a marriage and a family. Korson's article also includes a link at the end that will take you to other resources, such as counseling and addiction programs, as well as pastoral letters on the subject.

And, if you click on the "related articles" button on the Fathers for Good page, you will find links to additional stories on strengthening marriage after porn addiction, what the Catechism of the Catholic Church has to say about pornography, and the stunning statistics that show why this problem demands our attention now.

I have a friend who was arrested for having pornographic images on his computer. He was a professional man who has lost everything, but gained his soul back, as he came back to the Church before entering prison. Praise the Lord. We need as many men as possible to encourage other men to turn off their computers.

I had an addiction to porn. I asked St. Benedict for assistance. I said just ONE chaplet of St. Benedict and asked him to drive out the demons that were causing my addiction. I was cured. I still pray to him, Mary & St. Mary Magdelene for continued success! It works! But you got to WANT to break free.

I am a 4th degree Knight, and I am behind ridding this type of trash from society. I am also a journalist, and believe strongly in the first amendment. The Roth standard states that if prurient (obscene) interest is involved, the first amemndment does not protect. Right now the State Attorney General of my state (south carolina) is sueing Craig's list for not taking off the pornographic prostition pages from the website as it realtes to south Carolina. As a former subsitiute teacher, I am aware that these sites is where many predators find there prey, and use them to make money off of these girls.

As a former Peace Corps Volunteer to president of feed the children-philippines, one of the programs I worked with, involved getting young children (make and female) trafficed for the pornographic websites to have a way to turst others, aas well as legitimate job training program. The Physcological dmage that is done to these boys and girls involved in this pornogrpahy industry, is horrendous!!!

It really angers me that the the first amendment and almighty dollar, and creating jobs is used to justify putting this trash out.

I am 43 years old, and I remember when sneaking a look at the naked little pigmies on my parents's national geographic was shameful. what has the world come to when exploiting for sex is no longer considered shameful
